Hi. I’m Tanya Sweet.

Or at least I used to be. For twenty-two years, I was just Tanya Sweet. These days, most people know me as Tanya Poepsel. It all started when I married a man I love dearly. Unfortunately, Prince Charming came with a name that I didn’t love quite so much. So, I changed my name but I kept my identity.

So, hi. I’m Tanya Sweet (Poepsel).

Professionally, I go by my given name. Sweet. It’s easier to spell and it’s easier to say. Plus, I just like it better.  I’ve been told that my “sweet” name has little to do with my personality.

In truth, I’m more likely to be called


Don’t get me wrong - that’s a good thing. Not so good for Prince Charming, but good for you.

When working with you and your children (whether two- or four-legged) you will more than likely see me:

Make a silly face
Make a silly noise
Bark out orders like a Marine Corps Drill Instructor
Crawl around on the floor
Laugh out loud
All of the above


On a shoot, I am high energy and upbeat. I’m not shy, and I’m not going to let you down. You’ll work hard and you’ll have a great time. Most importantly, I’ll work hard to capture the images you want. My job is to provide you with a one-of-a-kind portrait that captures the essence of your one-of-a-kind family members.


Whether I’m behind the camera or in front of the computer, blocking the sunlight or dodging the raindrops, I love what I do. I carry candy and milk bones in my pockets and a camera on my shoulder- just in case.


So that’s what I’m all about. If you’re still reading this, I guess you want to know a little more about me. I love oldies music, running through puddles, and hats. (How’s that for random?) I live on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with Prince Charming, three little ones who aren’t so little anymore, and my new favorite photography subject, Gunner, a chocolate Labrador Retriever puppy. Three kids, two princes, and one photographer who’s trying to keep it all together.
